About the Blogger

My name is Rebecca Odell.  I’m a senior public relations major at Kent State University, and I am a coffee addict.Rebecca Odell

I’m not sure how this addiction came to pass.  I blame it on the 8 a.m. algebra class I took freshman year of college, which forced me to dump my life savings into Starbucks.  Now I can’t go a day without a cup in the morning and a pick-me-up latte throughout the day.

I’ve loved coffee for three years, but I’ve loved writing since I was old enough to know how to put a pen to paper.  I decided to major in public relations in high school and thought it would be the best way to combine my love for research, writing and interacting with others into a career I could enjoy for the rest of my life.  I haven’t looked back since.

I was the regional campuses and international affairs beat reporter for the Summer Kent Stater.  I worked as a public relations intern at Flash Communications, and I’m currently interning in the Public Relations Department at Akron Children’s Hospital.  I was the online media manager for Kent State’s Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter for the 2008-2009 academic year, and now I’m serving as the vice president of public relations.

Fun Facts:

  • I was born and raised in Cortland, Ohio.
  • My current music obsessions include Run Kid Run, Phillip LaRue, The Rocket Summer, Hillsong United and JJ Heller.
  • My favorite quote is by Winston Churchill: “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.”
  • I collect anything that is eggshell blue. My favorite items in my collection are vintage salt and pepper shakers from my grandma.
  • I enjoy regular coffee, but I’m also a sucker for white chocolate mochas, caramel macchiatos and vanilla chai lattes.

The opinions and views discussed in this blog are my own.  In no way do they reflect the opinions of my employer, my university, my friends or my family, unless I state otherwise.
